Granthi Singhs

The custodians of daily worship at SGSS Hounslow.

Granthi Singhs

A Granthi is a custodian of the Guru Granth Sahib — a learned Sikh who leads daily prayers, performs the ardaas, and conducts ceremonies such as weddings, naam karans, and akhand paaths. The word granthi literally means one who reads the Granth.

At SGSS Hounslow

Our Granthi Singhs are present at the Gurdwara every day from before dawn until late evening. They open the day with Prakash of the Guru Granth Sahib, lead Nitnem prayers, perform kirtan from the scripture, and close the day with Sukhasan.

They also serve the sangat in pastoral ways — guiding families through life events, teaching children the basics of Gurmukhi and the daily prayers, and answering questions about Sikh practice.

Their seva

The Granthi Singhs carry a sacred responsibility. Their work is the heartbeat of the Gurdwara — without their seva, daily worship would not be possible. We are deeply grateful for their dedication.
