GURDWARA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS 2021
NOTICE

Under the powers vested in the Executive Committee under Clause 10 (1), in pursuant to Clause 23 (11) of the Gurdwara Constitution dated 30th March 1999 (amended), and in accordance with provisions of Clause 23 (13) therein, Notice is hereby given, that;

(a) The election of a new executive committee will be held on Sunday 29th August 2021 at the Gurdwara between the hours of 10.00am and 6.00pm.

(b) The elections will be held under the supervision of independent agents, specialist in the management of ballots and elections.

(c) Only those persons, who were already registered as members and whose names appear on the subsequent final membership list that has been published, will be eligible to vote.

(d) If you wish to be a candidate at the election, you shall provide on an appropriate nomination form (available from the Gurdwara General Secretary), a written declaration of your desire to stand, signed by a proposer and a seconder together with a cheque for a non-refundable £100.00, made payable to “Sri Guru Singh Sabha”. You shall do this not later then 1.00pm on Sunday 8th August 2021. Your candidature will be accepted (subject to receiving clear CRB findings) if you meet the qualification criteria set out in the Gurdwara Constitution, and that your name together with that of your proposer and your seconder appears on the current membership register for the Gurdwara.

TIMETABLE

Sunday, 18th July Notice to be issued at 11.00am in pursuant of Clause 23 (11) and in accordance with the provisions of Clause 23 (13) of the Gurdwara Constitution dated 30th March 1999 (amended), with regard to holding elections on Sunday 23rd August 2020, for the purpose of electing New Trustees (Executive Committee)
Friday, 23rd July Start date for the acceptance of Nomination Forms (11.00am)
Sunday, 8th August Closing date for the acceptance of Nomination Forms (1.00pm).
Monday, 9th August In pursuant to Clause 10 (3), Gurdwara Executive Committee (Trustees) to appoint a Scrutiny Committee of five members.
Tuesday, 10th August In pursuant of Clause 10 (5)(a), to transmit names of all candidates to the Scrutiny Committee.
Friday, 13th August In pursuant of Clause 10 (5)(b), to inform those wishing to be candidates, regarding the Scrutiny Committee’s decision about their eligibility for candidature.
Sunday, 15th August At 12.00pm to make announcement to the congregation and place on Gurdwara notice board, the names of final list candidates.
Sunday, 29th August Gurdwara elections to be held under the supervision of election supervisors to be followed by vote count by the Election Supervisors, with formal announcement to follow after the count had been ratified.
Friday, 3rd Sept Successful candidates will meet and elect office bearers.
Sunday, 5th Sept New Trustees (Executive Committee) to be formally announced, with a list of their names and their respective portfolios to be placed on the Gurdwara notice board and on Gurdwara website.
Monday, 6th Sept Transition period, new Trustees to shadow outgoing Trustees
Monday, 15th Sept Formal handover of responsibilities takes place, from the outgoing committee to the newly elected committee.
